I have been dwelling on situation of Nepal for past couple of months now. This is the first time I am posting something of great importance to me and I personally believe that a lot of us (Nepalese) will agree with me. Why is the situation of our dearly loved country worsening day by day, hour by hour? Is it that we have lost the hope or do we no longer care? I just want everyone to be clear that my posting has absolutely no intention of pointing fingers at any particular group or person for that matter. I firmly believe that we all are victims and sadly we cannot hold anyone but us responsible for this. I read news when I have time, especially in the mornings when I am sipping my cup of coffee and you know everyday I pray that may be, just may be this morning I will not find any bad or heartbreaking news about my country. But how foolish of me to expect such a thing? As my eyes venture the headlines, my heart breaks into pieces. I can feel my heart crying inside me. I see headlines about college students calling “Bandhasâ€, so called “peaceful†protestors looting stores, protestors destroying public and private properties, politicians bashing at each other, poor laborers sleeping in a fetal position due to hunger, such and such not letting to use the so called dumpsite for city waste, government failing to explore solutions for common problems like drinking water, daily source of energy, unemployment, sewage, national security including border protection, citizens taking matters in their hands, demanding cruel division of such a tiny and majestic country and so on and on. Why is it that we always see problems with others? Everyone knows that we ourselves are destroying the country, how hard is to comprehend the consequences of our actions? I personally believe that we have been so much pussyfooting around and trying to prove our innocence by blaming others. If we want more representation from a certain group why aren’t we producing reliable politicians who truly care about the citizens? Why are we electing same person as head of the nation over and over again? If we see corruption why are we not taking it to the proper authority? Why are the authorities so called proper authorities not punishing the corrupts? Why is a Nepali killing another fellow Nepali for no apparent reason? Can we all just not get along and vision for the future? Are we so desperate to kick the side- walk as far as nationality goes? Are we not proud of our country? Please, please anyone who is reading this help me out here, I am trying to envision a safe, secure, stable, prosperous country for my kids. Is there a lick of a chance that may be we can do something? Country is crying out for help and how long are we going to sit around dancing in our comfort? What is point of all the properties that I own if I cannot tell my grandkid where I am from and if I cannot show him where I grew up? Please let’s bounce off the ideas to how can we build our nation without bashing at each other. Also I sincerely ask the users not to use any racial, geographical or gender slurs or abusive, hateful language, we are civilized enough that we do not have to curse to make a point; this is something I would like us Nepalese to take seriously.

Your writing represents feeling of most of us.Poverty,majority and lack of dedications are few driving factors that were driving our nation. Solutions are us.We do want to see our prosperous nation but we do not want to sacrifice our personal interest or we do not want to go beyond our family and community interests.Unless we Change ourselves,we can not change the socioeconomic structure,we can not change the political scenarios,it remains the same. When we think of our nation,we feel sorrow for it,we cry for it but when time comes to sacrifice our happiness for the betterment of our future generation,we are bound by our limitation. There are lots of people in US and Europe do not want to go back but they show more attachment to nation than those people who are fighting for their daily survivals back home. Unless we change ourselves,noone can change our nation.We are solution.Our generation has to sacrifice to have better future for our kids.No superpower can change unless we change ourselves> My two cents;
