This piece of news reminds me of RK Narayan's story - Lawley Road:

Govt to remove royal statues from capital city

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam has said the government will remove all the statues of the ex-kings and other former royals from Kathmandu to be replaced by public heroes.

Speaking at Ratnapark, Kathmandu Saturday while laying foundation stone for construction of the statue of Sankhadhar Sakhwa, who founded Nepal Sambat, Gautam said the replacement would be done following consensus with political parties.

Why Miost and their alies are afraid of statues ! Many tourists visit every year to see Nepalese culture and history.

Government is not serious about "dal bhat" of ordinary people. May be due to difficulty, then want easy steps like remove the statue, change names of streets etc.

What a shame !!!

Is "daal bhat" of ordinary people a concern for the home minister? The Nepalese media seems to be covering the home minister a lot these days, or is he the only one who is taking actions after the new government? except Dr. Baburam Bhattarai who set up a Facebook fan page after becoming the finance minister.

What is wrong with these maoists? Why remove and erase our history?

There are always reaons and paths that got us to where we are today, and we should not forget them. Why do these people want to get rid of it? Do they not have confidence in themselves?
