Every where the news is “Maoist are leading” I am shocked by the outcome of the poll. I haven’t met a people in my life who is a Maoist supporter, none at all…. When every I talk with people I have heard people saying they are not good at all for the country’s future… but how come they are leading… I am shocked are you also or its just me… Is there any one who is Maoist supporter or believes in their philosophy?

Looks like deep down, people have some expectations from Maoists. People seem tired of the NC and UML's filthy games.

i dont support the maoists but i am not surprised... in fact i told many of my friends that except for kathmandu maoists will win in other areas ... specially rural areas... the maoists will threaten or people will vote with their own minds... and also just think... 80% of nepali live outside kathmandu and are poor.. they are tired of political parties lies.. they want change...

surprised, but still welcome the result. People are giving oppurtunity to some new faces. Duly reminder to NC & UML. Still two more years for general election. People are forgetting there's election in two years again, this is just to elect people to write constitution.

I am not shocked. Yes, they are leading in few more constituencies and especially in those from city are like ktm but still. There are couple of reason: 1. In past elections those who were not contesting voted for UML just because they are communist. Those bunch now voted for Mao. 2. In remote villages, other parties were forced out of electioneering. 3. There are still a fear among the people in village, which came from the controversial speeches from maoist leader, if maoist loose they will again start the same jungle war and people again have to go through the same suffering. So, people voted maoist just because to get rid of their atrocities. If they won of course, it obviates their intimidation. 4. In remote villages, there are many places where where other parties, civil society and security still can't trespass. Maoist only enjoy the rights for voting in those areas. 5. People have belief that if moist wins and enters the government and peace restores in the country, their kids in the milisia can come back and they will not have to again go through the same suffering.

It is not the socking news at all, but little bit surprising. It's people choice and they have reposed faith on Maoists this time. It may be that leaving outside Nepal, We did not have clear information and knowledge of ground reality. We should hope now that Maoists fulfill peoples' aspirations. I think Maoists' vocal stand against monarchy and feudalism earned them many votes.

That is true, indeed.
Maybe people are tired of ill-fated promises made by kangress and yemale...
Back in 2048 sal tira, Maoists were against any foreign inervention- politico-wise, or even invenstment wise, and also, if I recall it well, they wanted to scrap the Sugauli treaty, etc. and such. So we'll see how much "dum" they have once they are pampered...

It makes me think and go back little histry what political party did when they had enough oppertunity to do something for Nepal and their people. I think people gave vote to Mao even they don't want to do it. Because people want peace. We never know if Mao don't win anything can happen. People are so poor we can't imagin how much difficulty they are getting through. If any thing happen, nobody care their situation except little news in the media. People want to be safe and ofcourse want some changes and see new faces.

Aalu jasto sampling data bata conclusion nikale pachhi ........result pani aalu jasto nai aauchha! US aaune 80-90% Nepali are 'sons' and 'daughters' of so called 'upper class' people of city areas of Nepal. If u ask them they will say what we expect from them! No surprise! And remember pool always does not tells the truth. The pool of Himal Khabarpatrika showed more than 50% people still want Monarchy in Nepal. Now see the result of Kathmandu, and wait for more severeness from out of the Valley! Now respect the public opinion.

i know i cant believe it but i guess most ppl we contact are ppl frm kath or city area who are in school or have some professional job so ppl who would want mao to win would not be them. and if i was poor and living in some village where there was pretty much nothing happeing and mao came and said all that stuff and that they would change my fate then i would vote for them too u know.
i just hope it doesnt become like a dictatorship or anything cuz thats wht ppl fought for to get rid of the king and now prachanda. as long as they are democratic
i dunno lets see wht they do with the constitution if they have checks and balances like in usa then someone becoming a dictator would be difficult

even I am well educated, I don't want to express my support to MAO until there is some wave .. I really want MAO to win but why shall I express my view infront of those people who is my friends and don't want any explanation.. This is what all the people think .. this is what I think and this is what you think .. this is the reason .. MAO is winnning A silent vote .. a huge amount of silent vote ..

Whatever might have been and whatever the political parties might have done , I am now sure Nepal will be another Zimbawe under Rbert Mugabe. The Maoists will definitely will be euphoric in their wins even if they don't secure majority by themselves and lose all the patience in acting and doing. They have never been accepted by the international community as a rational political force and so will be the reaction because they are Maoists ( Communists) . Have you ever seen a communists regime letting a nationa progress ?
Look at the Cuban government , it is just thinking of relaxing the ban on people to buy a bread toaster !
And they are allowing people to buy mobile phone by 2015 if everything goes as they plan !
Are you in dream world to ever think that an ultra ruthless Comunist Party can rescue a psuedo soverign nation almost under subjugation of a big brotherly neighbour ?
Remember guys, the nation called Zimbabwe has 1,000000% of inflation rate for the last seven years and a 1 million dollar note will not be enough to fetch a loaf of bread.
Don't be euphoric on this so called change ! Be prepared to brace up for the most despotic and demonic doomsday !
