You couldn't open the site probably due to the host server might be down, as you know of the power crisis (16 hours/day load shedding) in Kathmandu. Meanwhile, you may e-mail to the committee if anything specific you wish to know.....

Nepali PhD intellectuals should do:- You can make it big different if you real do this for Nepal. This organization or association should not be like barbeque party association. This association must be for real good change for poor Nepali education systems, management and course of studies. - Establish organization with effective (mission, vision, objective, function and actions) - Take action is re-evaluate and development in quality educational courses of Nepali schools, colleges and Universities. "Course of study" of Nepali institutes must be quality level of South Korea, China or Japan etc. - Nepal National Educational printing press must reorganize and manage. So press must provide quality, affordable course books and material for all students of Nepal. - Establish Advisory Boards to do educational Advise for Nepali University, Colleges and schools. - Help & Support to Nepali Education systems and Nepali educational institutions.

Bhunte, It seems The Tadartha Samiti was made without enough homework that is why its website is not working, a first sign. Bhunte ji did you check the website before you published it here? What was the content? Long time ago I had seen a proposal with having a similar association of Mahendra Vidya Bhusan Gold (from this year on ward it will be probably called Prachanda Vidya Bhusan) holders association. If the association does not have political color, it can work, but if the officer holders are to use the position to influence in political appointment, I doubt very much for its positive performance. An example, Nepal Engineer's Association is a politically motivated organization whoever wins whether Kangressi Supporters, or UML or Maoist supporters. Such "political" associations come and go, real "professionally motivated" people will not join it. In current political context, I doubt it is free from ultimate political influence, and therefore, I hardly expect any participation from world's leading Nepali PhD doctors. Don't let any one with PhD degree get membeship in this association, particularly, "honorary PhD", and soon Prachanda will get one honorary degree just the way Gyanendra got from some univ in Russian Federation. Have fun. GP PS BTW, I would be interested if any Nepali Engineers would be interested in forming a Nepalese Club of Certified Professional Engineers in USA or Worldwide. It should exclude the Nepali Engineers who only has "Registered Engineers" certificate bought at Vending Machine "Council of Engineers, Nepal". Any Nepali with BS / BE in Engineering Degree or AMIE certificate can buy it in NRs. 500. So, the bottom line requirement for membership should be "the prospective member should have passed a written certfication exam in the country where they live". The club should not accept the engineers who got the certification via simple documentation and evaluation of the submitted docs. One of my former colleague who got AMIE certfication, told that he got one year experience evaluation required for AMIE through his friends who owned the company without going a single day in field or office. Many Nepali Engineers in Nepal get XYZ degrees from UK (correspondence course) by asking their friend to solve the questions on their behalf. It is so called undocumented truth in Nepal, we call it "Open Secret" in Nepal. Soon Maoists will propose B.S. and A.S Deg. in Pressure Cooker Bomb Engineering ... and these members will invade the club.

Dear enlightened ones, I suggest before forming 100 different exclusive groups and organizations to help Nepal or the World, I ask you to look into already existing, established and effective organizations, and join them as a member- and shine on! There are lots of good people who have been doing great things-and quietly.. More organizations add unnecessary overhead and also dilute the effectiveness. NRs 0.02

RH, Thats democracy. If the .org that we start does not work, then it will die, and let it die, as per the aspirations of Capitalism, no government intervention, no government bailout. Any .org that has government influence, will collect the idiots and selfish people who will exploit the benefits, and ruin the orgnaizaiton, e.g. Nepal Engineers Association, and other organizations in Nepal. Let us form them, and let these useless org die, and eventually, .org that are worth and have sustainable resources will continue to serve people. GP

Nepali should, quit the habit, of forming groups and trying to do sth just with friends involved as we can see every one wants to do their own, no one likes wat others are doing and they dont wanna join any groups because they think they got a better one

GP, From year 2008, it is "Nepal Vidya Bhusan-Ka" NPA states that it is a non-profit and non-political organization, formed to advance academic excellence and spearhead development discourses with innovative ideas generated from multi-disciplinary consultative process. Membership is for PhD holders, but doesn't say anything about honorary doctorates. Let's discuss if they are eligible...

GrunzGurkha,
To do something, you need money. Money Money Money. To use that money in a better way and for a worthy cause, you need idea. Idea alone does not bring anything new. All these societies and associations can do nothing unless there is input of money. A society / association without money is a club whatever suffix it might have. How to get money? Membership fee is not enough. No org can run with membership fee alone. It needs external funding, and donations or sponsorships. So, sponsorship, activities, membership make a golden triangle. The PhD association also needs these three, and it is like a snow ball: it should roll and grow up. In current situation, the tadarth samiti needs some dedicated and really honest people who can roll the snow ball and bring it to a reconizable size, so that others will join to roll and make it bigger. Till then it will be just like another society aka club.

You guys need to brain storm and write a true proposal for PhD association for help/support Nepal. This association / organization might be the non-political and non-profitable, but purpose of organization for truly social and humanitarian help and support to Nepal.

I would like to form following groups: 1. Primary School Educated Professionals (Class I to III successfully completed) - Maybe two subgroups here. One from Government schools and One from Private Schools. 2. Lower Secondary School Educated Professionals (Class IV to VII successfully completed) - Again two subgroups as above. 3. Secondary School Educated Professionals (Class IX to X successfully completed) - Again two subgroups as above. 4. Higher School Educated Professionals (Class X to XII successfully completed) - Subgrouping opportunity here is endless, eg. Science Major, Arts Major, Business Major etc. 5. Bachelor Degree Educated Professionals - Subgrouping opportunity here is endless too, eg. Science Major, Arts Major, Business Major and different universities. Overseas vs. Dometically educated. It's almost dizzying. 6. Master Degree Educated Professionals - Subgrouping same as 5. 7. Thanks to the folks who have already formed PhD Organization that we can skip this part. If you ask me, honestly it's just a wanking exercise, which the PhD folks seem to enjoy immensely. Goodluck.
