Was going thru' sajha archive and found this thread of 2003 where a few of us were engaged in solving puzzles and introducing new ones. Sadly, the very last puzzle that i posted hasn't been answered yet ( It is, in fact, one of the classic logic puzzles created by Raymond Smullyan). Sajha has changed a lot since then with a lot of new members added to it . I thought if anybody with strong passion for logic and/or puzzles wanna give it a try. So here it is once again: (A puzzle! --- revisited ) http://www.sajha.com/archives/openthread.cfm?threadid=8932&dsn=sajhaarchive "The Last Puzzle": http://www.geocities.com/arch119/reynold.html

''Reynolds thought about this and finally told Craig whether or not he knew whether he could have decided had the other one answered the second question instead. '' Arch Sir, I think the above sentence concludes that one amongst A and B is a kinght and the other is knave. So there is no possibility of them being knight, knight or knave, knave as you suggest. For the rest, Nirman has already solved the puzzle. if you think you have a different reasoning, lets see it. Jabarjasti garera hunna yar, the best way to shut others mouth is to come up with a logical reasoning.

>>newuser If you think his answer is correct, then why do u ask me for the correct one ? I am just a poor student (no need to call me a 'Sir') and my rejecting or accepting any answer doesn't make it right or wrong. You should have the ability to judge the validity of a proof yourself. I gave my opinion. If you don't like it curse me or something. As for Nirman's proof, I gave a reason why it is wrong. If he comes up with the right one , I don't have any personal reasons to say that he is wrong. He is a decent Sajha basi and I am a huge fan of his literary works as well. >'Reynolds thought about this and finally told Craig whether or not he knew whether he could have decided had the other one answered the second question instead. ' > Arch Sir, I think the above sentence concludes that one amongst A and B is a kinght and the other is knave. So there is no possibility of them being knight, knight or knave, knave as you suggest. No , it doesn't. To tell u the truth, Reynold can deduce that A is a Knight but he doesn't have enough information to find whether B is a Knight or a Knave and hence the answer he gave to Craig. Not because one was knight and the other was knave, as you said but because he knew the identity of one and not of the others.

Ok guys. I went thru' what I wrote all day today and I sound like an arrogant know-it-all, don't I ? :-) I didn't write anything incorrect but the way I did was surely wrong. Shit happens in life and it was just one of those days when u feel like shouting at everybody. I will post the answer in a few days [ I have it right here . The problem is that the answer is too long to type and my digicam is out of order ]. My sincere apologies to Nirman, Dada, shree5, PRESIDINGEARTHLY, newuser. Have fun and I will try to fix up things in my life.

B+b go to Waling-ward Okay, Now B+b+a are in the Waling-Ward.

Here is a puzzle very similar to Arch119's Knight and Knave puzzle. Illustration says all. Guess the question the traveler asked. (When I was a teacher in Nuwakot a long time ago, a Japanese volunteer teacher (I still remember his name, Kazunori Iwata from Nagasaki ) had brought this puzzle to us. I had managed to solve it !

आउँदै ग-या हो भने, "You came through the left, the way for the paradise, right?" A came through the paradise. He doesn't lie. He should reply "Yes". B came through the Hell. He lies. He should also reply "Yes". And hence, answer "Yes" from either means the left is the way for paradise & Vice versa.
