Who knows about Canadian Immigration? I heard that it's easy and more precisely less time consuming than U.S immigration. On top it's not that expensive and most people from Nepal with 4 years degree plus some years of work experience do easily qualify? Can you guys elaborate on this topic and help each other. Thankx

"I am sick and tired of the fools who are more than willing to take advantage of what the country has to offer, while deriding it for their own shortcomings" yea you're right there, our gov't helps everyone out and takes my tax dollars and it goes str8 into those basera khanay nachaina manchey haru. There are lots of neps like that that claim govt welfare and sit on their asses and do nothing, take the $$ back home and show off thukka. overall though, canada's a great country.

Teita SriG I have met well educated Nepalis who work under the table and then also claim unemployment! I mean the unemployment insurance is there to help people but leave it to our folks to misuse the system and they moan and groan about not getting equal opportunities.

I don't there really exists a notion of 'Send Us Your Poor, Your Huddled Masses Yearning To Be Free' Do u really believe that it's the poor and oppressed that make it to canada? (i'd say) a fraction of people refugee them are genuine refugees, rest are well off in wherever they come making false stories to eligible for a refugee status. Take tibetean refugees in Canada for instance, most are upper class people first generation tibetean from nepal. Even nepalese refugess that claim to be victims of maoist conflict to apply for a canadian residency, are they poor and oppressed? Surely, refugees are reaping the harvest of canada's laxed civil liberty values not the immigrant.. As for immigrants living on EI goes, i would't say they are the ones cheating the government for unemployment insurance. EI in canada is based upon several factors - number of insurable hours worked, the rate of unemployment and where you live. If you look at your pay slip, you've been paying for employment insurance ever since you recieved your fisrt pay check. If i have worked for considerable number of hours and paid my insurance against unemployment every pay check, why wouldn't i use my insurance when i lose my job? Besides, the idea of living on employment insurance isn't appealing to immigrants. firstly, because with EI, you can only only meet the ends meet, if immigrants wanted to live such a miserable life in canada, they would have never come, they have good bank balance to qualify as an immigrant. If you're an immigration trying to cheat the government by living on EI and working under the table, that's purely a crime, you can get jailed for fraud. by the, prem ji, canada's not going down t the bottom in the other 5 years, if you didn't know canada is one of the richest resource country in the world, which means that we have enough oil to last for another 10 years if the oil reserves would dry up right now. With recent boom in the asian markets, thje deamnd of oil rising faster than predicted along with its prices soaring, think about who might benefit......and america is not going to go down either in 10 15 years, the asian dragons only mass produces, they don't invent new ideas.. that's the job of america to do and make money out it....

SrijG: Ya, I know the feeling. You work so hard and good chunk your paycheck is directly deposited to the "fund".However, you are missing out on a bigger picture.Do you know how much Canada looks good globally? One reason why Canada has been constantly mentioned as top 5 countries is this...They are definitely putting some money..in this ..when big countries like US can't afford to that..Also, due to that..its attracting immigrants or should I say..who pay greatly just to be here...and if you really wanna blame welfare people then blame those bums who were born and raised here.they practically own parts of Toronto..they are PAID to do nothing...foreigners contribute to very less percentage . anyway, I would rather SEE my NEPALI BRO/SIS suck the juice out of canadian gov't if thats gonna happen..rather than millions of people from other countries(pakistan,srilanka..and so on)... Overall, Canada is an average country to live..highly competetive..btw, from what I have heard from close frens of mine..it seems like Europe is the palce to be..people so open and stuffs

Casey Having lived in both Europe and Canada, I would have to disagree with you. Europe is a whole different ball game and while the place is beautiful, one would have to live there and here to notice the difference. While the younger generation is much more open to other cultures, most cultures in Europe are very closed and do not welcome immigrants with open arms. People there do not mask their discontent at immigrants. It is obvious we are living in somebody else's country whereas Canada is a country which is being built by immigrants and therefore, more open. Canada is a wonderful country to live for the time being. It has still been spared the McMansion attitude - for NOW. And, on the issue of taking advantage of govt policies to help the needy, I would rather see our Nepalese work hard and gain access to govt positions, good jobs etc than to aspire to abuse a system.

Hari kanchha, Once you got your PR visa to canada it will be mentioned in that visa till when you can get into canada. If you can't make it by that date then your PR will be not valid anymore. Hope I answer your question. Peace folks

Thanks Lambu dai!! By the way, after entering within provided date do we have any restriction for stay except 2 yrs out of 5 yrs? I mean, do we have to stay atleast ......days or months etc.. once entererd? Should this 2 yrs stay be continuous block of time or it can be broken down like 1 wk, 2 wk or 1 months and added up to 2 yrs?

Well..nepali bhai I donlt think you can request the govet..As far as my knowledge is concern you have to stay there for 2 years in 5. But If I was you i will contact the Immigration and naturalization service in canada. Harikanchha about your concern you can be a landed and leave the country after you got your PR card, which usually takes 2 weeks after u land in canada. But Its better for you to leave after applying Health card which you have to live there 3 month before you can even apply for Health card. But I hope you guys are not migrating to canada coz " health free deal". Its not true. They change that plan from last year and its on income bracket they started charging you on ur pay check unless you are applying for EI (unemployment) than its all free. " MY ONCERN IS THERE IS NO FREE HEALTH IN CANADA ANY MORE". Now its just like having an insurence here in the USA from work.

Anybody know if you have to file for candian tax return, if you live and earn in Canada for few months, but returned later in US. In general, how does the tax return filing works, if you accept the Canadian PR but live and work in US?
