It just amazes me the characteristics of nepali people.why Nepali people so uncivilized??
Immediately after some 3000 people beat one man,
there is incident like beating doctors,
then armies violation of human rights and beating some police,
then now one army men beaten by hundreds !!!!
amazing..there is some serious problem with nepalese people heads.. we need lot of Psychiatrist in Nepal!!!!

I'd say 'most' kids are not brought up well in nepal. and in due course, psychological problems arise that result in abnormalities. Beating, threatening, giving wrong explanation for questions, sometimes not allowing to question elders results in moulding of brain differently than the ones raised in healthy environment.

Armies beating the police is so obvious though. That's how armies were trained...getting punishment for smallest mistake and for irritating their seniors/powerful ones. The one who gives orders are always right not matter what....so I wouldn't be surprised if they are stripped off from their morality. And about hundreds of people beating one army, the people see the army as the symbol of oppression. I agree that Nepalis need psychiatrists' help....after facing oppression, anyone would need one.

Parents in nepal need modern parenting education.

welcome sajhafuser sweetie, :P

ok let me clarify what i meant in the last post.

1) education system in nepal is handicapped, that's what i feel. it is very bookish and theoretical. almost all science students know "newton's laws of motion" but very few are aware of the ethics, moral of living and respect.

2) by culture, i just not mean the non-violence teaching, but a society which ensures good upbringing of kids and which ensures healthy environment both physically and mentally.

3) those are the gist. remember to get rid of mosquitoes, we need to clean our environement. mosquitoes repellent (psychiatrists) work, but temporarily. let's look at the root cause, not the temporary solutions.

we need to teach ethics, moral, values in everygrade from 1 to PHD..hahahaha..no i am really serious.
There should be compulsory electives of philosophy, history, sociology, psycology , woman education n history even for science students in bachelors degree just like in USA.Overall development of a person.A engineer without knowledge of sociol-economic prospective is useless!!! at the same time a engineer if ones choose to be can do Masters in History.

WHAT ELSE DO WE NEED TO TEACH NEPALESE PEOPLE????????

250 complaints of code of conduct violation

The ceasefire code of conduct monitoring national committee has said that it has received 250 complaints of violations of code of conduct by both the sides.

Speaking at a press meet on Monday, organized to make public its first “observation” report on the 25-point ceasefire code of conduct signed between the government and the Maoists on May 18, one of the members of the committee, Tara Nath Dahal, said that the committee has received complaints from individual as well as media of violations of code of conduct by both sides.

The report was submitted to the government and the Maoist talks teams on July 28.

The committee concluded that the separate letters written by the government and the Maoists to the United Nations seeking its help in the management of arms was against the spirit of the 12-point understanding and clause 3 of the code of conduct.

It said the government also violated the agreement by unilaterally writing the letter to the United Nations.

The report has pointed out that some of the industries have not resumed full operation due to pressure from the trade unions of the Maoists and other political parties.

It also said that the Nepali Army was found to have used schools as barracks and security camps and that they have not withdrawn their camps from educational institutions.

Leaders of the seven-party alliance and the Maoists were also found to have made provocative statements affecting the peace process. Both sides tried to influence the media, the report said.

The report also alleged that both sides did not show willingness to withdraw charges and cases against persons and make public the status of the disappeared even though the code says that such problems would be addressed.

Coordinator of the ceasefire monitoring national committee, Dr Birendra P Mishra, said they would come up with particular cases of the violation of the code in the next report after the seven teams currently in field observation

IMI, i usually like your thread and comments, i think in general, you are smart and you do think intelligently, eventhough somtimes way too superficial .

In this thread, i think you're getting confused with nepalis and human nature.

education????
aren't those college going students?????
culture???
doesn't our culture teach non violence buddha etc???

again, education and culture isnt always what you read, its what you implement and the wiseness in your soul n heart.

in a nutshell, its not the nepalis, its human nature.

Thanks Mansion,
Ok now let me explain when u said Human Nature.
I think it is same human in Nepal as well is in USA.
It is same highschool grad in Nepal as well as in USA.

yet, the same student and implementing knowledge is different.I do not think , education system in nepal teaches anything wrong.but still the same people go on the street and stone hospitals and schools.

where did we go wrong?
i see what u are saying about human nature. But why is human nature so different to the extereme in case of Nepal.

It might be the product of frustration but there are other places in the world to who are frustrated.I am just pointing out the nature of nepali people .yes it might be subset of the nature of frustrated humanbeings or barbarians.

They cannot even think ,why are so many people beating one person???com'on there should be something seriously wrong with these people!!

when loote said we need education. i said that.Even our culture teaches so much about nonviolence -religion itself is very giving and peaceful .

I think people who are revolting are only showing their human nature....that's why I have sympathy for them. But I don't have symapthy for the ones who keep on opressing ke.....
My general reasoning:
people revolt: why? due to opression.
people opress: why? because they are uncurably sick....are taught by their sick parents...and the trend goes on.....until somebody stops them physically....they have neither patience nor the intelligence to understand...

I do not promote giving therapy for opressors(they need to be punished-that's the therapy for them); but for the ones who have been left behind / treated as second class citizen...to make them realize that they are valuable and they can still make a difference...

we take names of idols like buddha, but do not research enough to apply it in our culture....only by saying buddha is for love, peace and harmony and promoted non-violence doesn't make any difference. It's the education that makes the difference, but by education, I don't mean a degree ke. Just a parenting class for a couple who's ready to start a family...can make a huge difference in the quality of future nepali citizen.

goodnight

I on this subject have to side with IMI. I also think that nepalese are somehow screwed up in their head. And yes, an intensive counselling will be needed before getting anywhere. In USA and other developed countries people fight. But those people are special and minority. In Nepal almost everyone fights. Any occasion with gathering is an opportunity to beat up someone. Look at Indians for god's sake. They appear way more civilized when handling conflicts. They talk, argue no matter how loud but rarely beat up each other. We mock them for being coward when in fact they are being civilized and smart. Many of them come from the same kind of background like nepalese do. They share almost the same culture, their schooling nor the economic condition are any different from ours. Yet they come out much better than us in ways to go about in life.
I have also been to many nepalese gathering, sporting events and there have almost always been trouble. If there isn't a fight, there is always criticizing and back biting about others and their success. Hardly anything good or productive is heard in those gatherings. It looks like we are always inclined to hurt others and put them down more than we are inclined to improve ourselves.
I think it is cultural. I do not believe that we have a rich culture. Among most of the ethnic groups in Nepal, in my opinion, newars are the most cultured group and they always seems to have more fun filled activities, better food and more helpful to each other and above all less fights. It is those who have descended from "pahad" they seem to have trouble dealing with people and resolving differences. It is almost barbaric. And I think Indians have superior culture than ours and hence know better ways to handle conflict. It is almost like we nepalese are still evolving and are far behind than others.

I don't think it is the race thing... Somebody had to drag "cast" in this discussion.... Thats where the problem lies.... We all want to argue and blame each other. When it comes to being civilized and non-violent, I don't think any cast or races are different than others!

Sajhauser,
I totally agree but what does that have to do with this thread. This thread was about "Nepalese or Barbarians". Somebody poked a irrelevant point about one cast being more civilized in Nepal. I don't see your comment about women being treated as a second class citizen make any sense here.

okay, when you didn't refer to anyone, I doubted myself. But, the topic "nepalese or barbarians" can be very broad. I'd consider the opressed ones in general(including both men and women) to be second class citizen.
