Well, it turns out that the governor was trying so hard to distance herself from her Indian immigrant roots that she actually listed herself as being white:

Not so inspiring? Lying about where you're from, like South Carolina Republican Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), the American-born child of Indian parents, might have done. The Associated Press reports that in 2001, Haley listed her race as "white" on her voter registration form.

State Democrats accuse her of being a fake-race opportunist in a state that is, according to the US Census poll, about 66% white (and just a tick over 1% Asian). From the South Carolina Post and Courier:

The state Democratic Party, which first obtained [Haley's voter registraton information], is calling Haley out on the matter and challenging whether her inconsistency on the card might have made her ineligible to voter under the state's new Voter ID law.

Dick Harpootlian, the party chairman, said whether Haley listed her race as white or not doesn’t really matter to him, but the issue is that the governor has shown a pattern of such actions.

"Haley has been appearing on television interviews where she calls herself a minority—when it suits her," Harpootlian said. "When she registers to vote she says she is white. She has developed a pattern of saying whatever is beneficial to her at the moment."

If you have filled out the census you'd know. It doesn't matter who you are, it matter what you feel or identify yourself with. President Obama filled out "black" when he should have checked "white" as well since we know he's half white. Multiple check is allowed on the form. Further, census does not have a check box for Arab-Americans. Anybody with middle-eastern heritage will have to fill out as "white", literally.

If she feels she is white, technically there is no crime committed if that is what she identify herself. After all she is a politician, not a preacher. Look at Bobby Jindal. Bobby is a western name and he's a Christian, all in the name of selling yourrself.

Nicky Haley, Governer of South Caroline, convereted to Christianity and now we find that she even would change her race to White
Bobby Jindal, Governer of Louisiana, converted to Christianity; can't convert to White.. too much Indian (black) to pass as White, may be mexican.
Any other example people can throw in??

Looks like she is an opportunist......playing a minority chip to enter into politics representing minorities. She entered through support of minorities...and now to move ahead into a bigger area, trying to lick some white skin....

okay, here is the thing.

based on my knowledge, If you are an arabic, european, canadian, you will not be considered minority once you receive your US citizenship.  However, we asians and many others are considered minorty for any business purpose and thus quality for DBE.  I guess Vhootee was refering to this definition. 

Really??? Did you really see the first video??? Ok go back and check again at 1:56... They sure are making an issue out of a non-issue!! In any case, race is just  a mental construct anyways..
