can a currently employed F1 person apply for a work permit?...... Well if you dont have a permit you are working against the rule...... and the next thing is are you going around the INS office and saying that you are working without permit? Well in that case u are a gone case, but if you apply for a work permit ....plain and simple you will get one. For IRS visit www.irs.gov for INS visit www.uscis.gov

Yes in F1 status you can apply for work permit. Form I 765. Working without a valid work permit is illegal, but everyone does it, thats up to you if you wanna take risk or not. but when you apply for your workpermit, you dont have to mention that you've been working illegally without a work permit, that would be really dumb. INS- Deals with immigration issues. IRS-Deals with tax issues. Good Luck.

okay since kukurs are not allowed, i am here with a stripped version of me. well, actually the other one maxed out so i had to resort to this. your question is ambiguous (not self explanatory), i mean why you wanna tell them that you work ? do you wanna show them how modest you are? :P isn't this a simple thing to comprehend? i m not sure how long you have been living here in US for--i am sorry but have to askl, do you have a SSN? LooTe P.S. RESPECT!!! :P :D

loote is anything but funny hyperthread (what kind of name is that). anyway. I was not talking about telling the irs ppl about the work history. i was just wandering if they will check that before issuing a permit. I can be extremely dumb, but not that honest. ani tyo dherai legal, illegal ko kura garna ko laagi post gareko hoina maile. MANSION, thanks for the quick insight, but it seems like you did not get my point either. all I wanted was some dumb-ass nepali pwaint of views, irs and ins ko website was not all that handy, HYPER. also, I dont think that I've mentioned anywhere in my post that I am going around irs talking about my permit bina ko kaam. all I said was aile gareko kaam chhode pachi matra apply garne ki aile nai hanide huncha? also, paila illegally kaam garisakeko bhaye pachi permit apply garda tension kattiko huncha? looking for a real insight, only if you have some. P.S. kyarnu bhokai marnu bhanda ta risk linu nai jati jasto laagyo. badhi ma k nai hola ra, samatyo bhane nepal ta pathaulan ni. tyo pani tanna illagal haru chhadai chhan linema ma bhanda agaadi.

Ms Ratopul.. can a currently employed F1 person apply for a work permit? F1 visa holder will eligible to work on campus job but also you can apply the working permit on the basis of Financial Crisis.. you may need to support the documents ( which is not that hard) and other way to get work permit is an OPT once you finished the study for 1 year. In both cases you will get work permit for 1 year. on a more serious note, lemme know tyo irs ra ins le k k garne ho hai. I dont think there will be any problem, i have seen ppl are doing this before and i wont say there wont be any link between IRS and INS but on your case, they wont bother matching your ssn from INS to IRS whether you are working before or not. Hope this will help you a little.

Ms Ratopul. Go to your international advisor and talk to him/her about applying a work permit. When they are convinced that you can apply one, they will prepare all the documetns for you. all you need to do is take that package and post it. Sometimes INS will ask for some more proof like your dad's earnings. But, don't panick when they send you a letter asking for some more information. Do not tell the INS or your International advisor that you work outside. They dont care and they dont want ot hear. If they hear they will deport you. So just be tight lipped and apply for your work permit. I have not heard a denied case.

Couple of things Ms_ratopul, lets make it clear: 1. As long as you keep your mouth shut , there is no way INS is going to do background research on you!they have better things to do like watch BUSH speach.hehehehe 2.If you are using your real SSN to work , then there might be slight chance,if you are one of the unluckiest first possible victim ,there are chances .Conclusion almost to nothing!!! 3.If you plan to present the employement autorization to the same employer, then for now u better tell u employer that they should not publish in daily herald that u are working for them illiegally. As long as they also keep their mouth shut .you should be fine. Conclusion: As long as everyone keeps mouth shut and make it seem like normal process you have very slight to none chance of gettiing caught.Good luck in your brave and bold step!!!:) i hope u don't talk too much..heheheh No lambofying this thread anymore!!!!!

ms_redbridge... i am anything but funny re? ke ho tyo bhanya? how am i ta tesobhaye? :P as for your problem, i guess you are lacking in confidence big time, that's the only problem. you are reminding of my cousin siz now...she is way tooo modest and truthful, just like you i assume. as ImI said, IRS and INS has more important issues to deal with than to get after your work history. as long as you don't commit a mistake and keep your mouth shut, i believe, you should be fine... g'luck LooTe
