Q.1.: Where are the crowds shown in state-media when King visited diffirent parts of the country with our tax money? Truth: Even 4, 000 people do not support this culprit from all 58 municipalities. Q.2: How many percentage of total people now support his black king? Hello my friends Saroj, Bhoonte, ShresthaN Ashu et al., can you all answer? ***

Right now Nepalis are divided. A sajha pol on the front page also proves so. Naturally people want freedom and democracy. But still why people are not out there to join the force. Answer is simple. Parties need to stop playing with commoners. Girijas recent move and past move proves so. These old farts need to go. Then only any sort of change is possible. Else the war with continue and so will be the struggle until new leaders are created among the mass to take on parties, maoists and also king. peace out

Highfly, Of course, I agree with you. Maoists are playing with guns and guns' politics is the enemy of the democracy. However, you have to admit that Gyane's guns are far more dangerous than Maoists' guns and Gyane's guns are killing more innocent people than Maoists's. Personally, I am against with the both guns. When you wrote above post, did you remind yourself about these: 1. what had a terrorist Gyane have told when he staged a coup? 2. What was the royal slaves' (Dr. Tulsi Giri et al.) claim about the Maoists strength? 3. What about the crowds shown in state media when murder Gyane mis-used our tax money? 4. What about Gyane's salves claim of favorable conditions for election after Feb 1(The black day)?

I am not supporting Gyane. All those questions applies to 7 parties too. Innocents were executed during so called democracy too. Inept 7 parties are not sub for Gyane's regime. Untill there is leadership change and reform, coomoners will be betrayed again. I will not be surprised to see Girija or Makune as next PM under Gyane. For the movement to become successful, these old farts should give chance to new and clean cheat polticians. But these fold farts need to be kicked out. Human right violation in army and police is the result of lack of education and proper training. Army and police behaved the same when there was so called democracy and the same way now. peace out

I agree with highfly. The Girija/ Makune & company is the main terrorist who created gyane terrorist and moaist terrorists. Until and unless completely new generation with totally new vision represents people's voice, lets not hope more except terrorism and civil war.

Election in the current situtaion is not practical. Deuba was not able to held elections. So is king. So will be all party govt. I rather see king and party negotiating than parties and maoists. I also do not think republic is a practical demand. Gyane will do anything to keep monarchy. So the result will never ending escalation of violence. Thats why I think, parties should work to bring king under constituion and also internal reform to streng then parties. Parties should let go their corrupt and inept leadership. The violence and damage of infrastructure in KTM is the result of the mob. A mob created due to the lack of proper leadership. There still time to tame the situation in Nepal before it results into another Lebanon or Afghainsthan. A street to street war between all the different factions. Also I would like to see change in approach of the so called internet democrats. If they want to increase and generate support, they should be inclusive rather than sidelining opposing views. Let me use some mgmt theory. When change is introduced, there are lotta opposition. The change leaders have to convince that change is necessary and its for good for the successful transistion. Simply by labeling anybody with opposing views will only result in decrease in support. peace out

General, this might sound too general but Nepali people are to blame for our conditions. If it wasn't for our incompetent "so called democratic leaders" we wouldn't be having a discussion about gyane. the questions posed above by you What about the crowds shown in state media when murder Gyane mis-used our tax money? TAX, do we even fairly pay taxes. Businesses bribe the tax office to reduce taxes. How many individuals pay taxes fairly in Nepal? Did you ever question when Sher bahadur visited US on your tax money? Doesn't matter who is leading Nepal, they all will spend the money. Everyone is cheating everyone. 4. What about Gyane's salves claim of favorable conditions for election after Feb 1(The black day)? Who do you blame for this gyane or your so called democratic leaders? If they didn't boycott and do stupid things, we might have had elections. The only thing that can save NEPAL is a total change in politics. Remove old timers and bring in well educated people who know what they are talking about. I will be very frank with you, if given a choice between gyane, girja, makune, shere et al. I will choose Gyane. But that doesn't mean I don't like democracy. If ever there is a change of face and all these old timers go, I would prefer the real democracy.

What a joke... This reminded me of the time when 34 candidates - all from different walks of life, filed for the post of prime minister one and half yr ago... I cant help laughing.. hahahaha ---------------------------------------------------- Colorful candidates mark the day Kantipur Report KATHMANDU, Jan 27 - Radha Upadhyay, a peon at a school, knows little about politics and democracy. Nor has she any idea of what Dr Tulsi Giri calls - "re-energization of democracy". She filed her candidature for the post of chairman of ward 4 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City in the upcoming municipal elections. But it was not to participate in democracy, but to "please" her boss, the school headmaster of Basuki School at Pashupati Temple area. Unlike most candidates who avoided journalists and cameramen, she faced questions from the media with elan, like a seasoned politician. Well almost. "My headmaster is here and I filed my nomination as per the request of my headmaster,” Upadhyay told journalists, as she emerged from the City Hall gate. "I do not know any politics and democracy." When asked why she filed her candidature, she said, "The school does not give money to me." Was it for money then? She shied away and declined to say anything. Sushma Sharma Baral of Nepali Shanti Kshetra Parishad wanted to become mayor of Kathmandu. So she went inside the City Hall. But returned soon. Chairman Baral's reasoning was there was some technical problem about her 'party'. But her 'party member', some Ghanendra Basnet, said Baral's name did not figure in the voters' list! A candidate who had arrived at Bhaktapur election office to file his papers was not allowed in after policemen contacted the officials inside. The reason? He had come with a banner which read jana ganatantra (people's republic). The scene before the election offices was marked by conspicuous absence of political activity surrounding the filing of nominations. No sloganeering. No political activists. Three fresh posters calling people to take part in the election were posted on the wall outside the office. A sack of flags belonging to Nepal Samata Party was lying against the wall. Police were posted along the Bhrikutimandap Road and only 'candidates' who whispered into the waiting policemen's ears were allowed to enter the City Hall premises. After the EC officials accepted their applications, all the candidates were taken upstairs and briefed about security arrangements. The candidates said they risked their life for the nation but said they would consult the Home Minsiter again in connection with security. When asked about how he can go to the people for votes, Shanta Lal Karmacharya, a Social Democratic Party candidate for Mayor's post said, "It is the cadres who go door to door for votes." Most aspiring candidates declined to reveal their identity too. The police then let them go without checking. In Banepa Municipality, it was strictly a family affair. Ganesh Lal Shrestha and his wife Lila Devi Shrestha were the only ones to file for the post of mayor and deputy mayor. It was another husband and wife affair in Nepalgunj, but of a different kind. Bhuwan Krishna Shrestha, who filed his candidature for the post of mayor in Nepalgunj Municipality, decided to withdraw his candidacy as his wife reached the election office, weeping. He is the district president of Rastrabadi Milan Kendra. Zonal Administrator Min Bahadur Pal and Chief District Officer of Nepalgunj, Binod Adhikari, were very frantic throughout the day. They were busy searching for possible candidates. Then Pal called an emergency meeting of royalists and forced three royalists to file their candidacy. The BBC Nepali Service reported that police escorted aspiring candidates to the election office. Posted on: 2006-01-26 19:50:11 http://www.kantipuronline.com/kolnews.php?&nid=63789

I am just curious to know what result of constitutional assembly election will be, if, by chance, everybody agrees to hold a peaceful election without guns. . How many percentage of votes will Gyan Bahadur get? . The political parties?, and . The maoists? We can not guess the mind of today's Nepalese. I am very amazed from their intellectual awareness and decisions to stay away from the municipal elections called by a gun-wielder. --- OK

If the lelection for a constituent assembly is FREE and FAIR conducted by UN or other impartial international body, the voting pattern would probably be: 1. Mahila Sahu and Company: Less than 1% 2. Seven parties alliance: More than 70% 3. Maoists and their cronies: Less than 30% But Mahila Sahu will not yield for a constituent assembly without bloodshed. Maoists will never allow a FREE and FAIR elections. Seven party alliance don't have the commitment to run long drawn campaign for constituent assembly. Sigh! It's the way of the world: Fools Die. More Sheep and Goats will be slaughtered before interenational community steps in to save Nepal's descend into anarchy.

--- Few glimpses of "New Model of Democracy"--- Kin cry foul against ‘forced’ candidacies Kantipur Report KATHMANDU, Jan 29 - It was on Thursday, January 26, 2006, the final day to file candidacy for the proposed February 8 municipal elections. The deadline was 5:00 p.m. Having no interest in politics, Ganga Nanda Banepali, 50, of Bhaktapur-3 preferred to stay home that day. He got a call at 6:45 p.m. All of a sudden, after finishing the conversation, Ganga said, "I am standing for the post of Ward Chairman." He prepared to go out, according to his sons. "When needed, I will call you" were his final words before leaving home. Till Saturday there was no sign of him and neither has he made any calls home. Bijaya Nanda and Sachita Nanda, sons of Ganga, who came to The Kathmandu Post office on Saturday to find their father's whereabouts, said though his father was a totally apolitical man, his name has figured in an Election Commission (EC) notice as a candidate of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party - Thapa (RPP-T). They were surprised to see his name there because he had left home after the 5:00 p.m. deadline, which had passed by almost two hours. "We appeal to him to withdraw his candidacy and come home," Bijaya Nanda told the Post. In case he has been "abducted", he requested the EC to remove his name from the candidates list. Till now, two unknown persons called his home to say that "Ganga Lal was safe". "Somebody must have deceived him into filing the candidacy," said Bijaya Nanda, who believes that his father is secretly being kept somewhere. The following are some of the incidents of forcible filing of candidacy in various parts of the country (Ganga Lal also may have undergone a similar situation): DANG - Security personnel went to the houses of potential candidates of Tribhuvan Nagar Municipality and "arrested" them for their "security". All of them have been lodged in a government office. Many people who happened to go out on the day of nominations were lured to file their candidacy papers. Dima Bhandari of Ward No. 8, was taken to the Samata Party, made to sign on a blank sheet of paper and was told that she would be given a loan without interest. She was surprised to learn through the media that her name had figured in the candidates' list. She was shortly "arrested", leaving her family members in worry. Those in custody have not been allowed to meet media persons. NEPALGUNJ - Fearing that the only Deputy Mayoral candidate Arun Thapa would withdraw his candidacy, local administration on Friday sent him to Kathmandu. Sources said he was made to board a Buddha Air flight at 5:30 p.m. Before being sent to Kathmandu, he was kept under security surveillance. KAKARBHITTA - Potential candidates of Mechi Municipality have been confined to the Municipality office and have been restricted from going outside, with no chance of withdrawing their candidacy. "I had come to the Municipality Office to settle a case, but they imprisoned me here," said Naresh Khadka, whose name has been enlisted as a candidate for Ward member of Ward No. 3 from RPP-T. "They didn't accept my withdrawal application." When the wife of Ward-12 Chairman candidate, Kishor Sharma Bhandari, asked the Zonal Administrator Shyam Kishor Singh to release her husband, he just said 'nothing would happen' before sending her home. KATHMANDU - The authorities barred all private media persons (except those from Channel Nepal Television) from entering the City Hall, where the district election office has been set up, till 6:00 p.m. A security officer at the gate said that they were instructed from higher-ups not to allow others, except government media and Channel Nepal to enter the venue, where a large number of candidates had converged to withdraw their candidacies. MAHOTTARI - When a large number of candidates flooded the Municipality office here to withdraw their candidacies, election supporters barred them from entering the office. Those who were unable to withdraw their names were a worried lot. DAMAK - As the authorities didn't allow anyone from withdrawing their names, all 30 persons who had filed their candidacies have been elected unopposed. One of the candidates, Yuvaraj Limbu, asked his family members to convey the message to the media that security personnel didn't let him withdraw his name. Another candidate, Gopal Giri, had gone to the election office on Friday to get a withdrawal form. "But, they kept him there," his wife Devika said. When many family members of the 'candidates' started crying at the gate and their numbers grew by the evening, they were chased away.

Newuser Jee, How are you too? Everything on my part is going well except to my motherland. I am hardly stopping my tears from rolling over my cheeks seeing such news. It is shame for us who can not control or chase away a foolish bastard from our motherland and save our heartland from being world's fun. It is a shame for us, the citizens; it is a shame for democracy; it is a shame for civilization and, it is a shame for modern norms and principles. Gyane became a fresh example of how much a man (considered to be an intelligent over other animals!) can go to such a low level! --- OK

National leaders of other countries call upon people to take part in election. National leaders of Nepal call upon people NOT to take part in election. To start with, the main issue was, "This government will not hold election". Then it became, "This government can not hold election" Then it became, "Let's boycott election" this is the way poltical parties work in Nepal.

Okji, I am allright too and I share exactly the same sentiment like yours. I thought people would not stop unless wiping out the vestiges of tyranny but seems they have already taken rest before taking another leap forward. too bad for our nation. Hope the momentum gathers soon.

I want to laugh at people when they blaming political parties fro not taking part in election. I equally agree that people are not filing the nomination and also withdrawing because of the fear from the maoist and also the fear to lose their political career in future. Howeverm political parties are not taking part because there is no doubt that the election is going to be unfair. If the government and force people and imprison them to take part in election, can't they manipulate the election results? Of course , they will. When you know that it is not going to be democratic election and you know that the results are going to be in favor of King's supporter, why would you even bother to participate in such an election??

To be a candidate in the election that comes after this one. The winners in these elections will most likely be incompetent because they are the King's supporters. The UN could be petitioned to monitor thenext elections and it would be a cake walk because the King will be more damaged goods than he already is. I have a hope that things will be better next time around otherwise it doesn't matter.
