Hello, My H1-B is expired and I am currently employed with work permit under pending I-485 status. I have Advance Parole document and I am thinking of travelling to Nepal with it. Does anyone have any similar experience? Do I need anything other than the Advanced Parole to get back to the US? How about in Nepal, are the immigration people there aware of the AP document? On a side note, do I need to get the letter from the Department of Labor in Nepal when I come back? I have heard that they have asked for that document for some of my friends but I wasn't asked for that last time I visited Nepal. What type of labor needs such documents? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

You may have already talked to your immigration lawyer about this but, I think the only problem would be if your I-485 gets approved when you are out of country. I am not a lawyer though.

I travelled with that document in 1996 and came back. There was no problem in Nepal but I got harrassed in Hong Kong.
