Hello,
I came USA at August 2005 as F1 student. I finished my master's (engineering) at December,2007 and working in OPT now. When I was in OPT, my wife applied F2 visa at May 2008 and visa was rejected. Because of this situation, I am going back school as a PhD candidate in same school from January 2009. I applied H1 at April 2008 and was not selected in lottery this time. Now, I am going back Nepal, as my visa has also been expired and applying visa for both my wife and me. I have full scholarship for me but I have to show like 4,000 per year for my wife. Can you share any similar experience or any suggestions?

Are u talking about $4K or $40K?
If you are talking about $4K / yr. I think u can give enough reasons that your wife will be supported from home for the amount.
I think this helps.
